Health & Safety
RX understands that a strong Health and Safety (“H&S”) program is critical to the well-being of their employees, contributes to the long-term success of RX and is a key feature of any partner’s risk management expectations.
RX is proud of their historic performance from a H&S perspective. We never take our good standing for granted and are continually looking for ways to improve our internal systems, policies and procedures. In an effort to maintain a high-quality program and mitigate H&S risk we are committed to the following:
High quality safety training.
All our employees participate in periodic training courses to obtain or maintain their accreditations. Some of our training includes: - First aid, - WHMIS training, - Working from at heights, - Suspended work platform training, - Asbestos awareness, - Confined spaces, - Joint health and safety training, - Propane torch and kettle safety, and more.
Third-party H&S reviews.
We retain a third-party H&S consultant that carries out periodic, surprise visits to our job sites. We work closely with our consultants to continually improve our team performance.
COR™ registered.
RX is registered in the COR program that is administered and granted by Infrastructure Health & Safety Association (IHSA). COR is a nationwide health and safety standard that is aimed at driving positive workplace behaviour and practices. In summary the program requires companies develop health and safety standards, identify job specific hazards, provide ongoing education and training to workers and requires continual improvement to optimize their systems. Our H&S performance will be scrutinized by internal and external auditors to ensure we remain in compliance.
E-Filing System.
RX employs a safety management software, SiteDocs™, to administer, record, track and analyze its active H&S program. The software electronically files and stores daily data that helps ensure our corporate safety policies and procedures are being followed by our managing team, tradespeople and sub-contractors.
Investing is gaining attention and traction with our partners. RX holds itself to a similar standard and continually looks to better its systems, workplace and impact on its surrounding environment. Our participation in this initiative is a result of our openness to change, drive for improvement and desire to make decisions that just make sense.
Here are some examples of how RX is driving toward an ESG future:
1. Energy Performance Projects. Environmental “E”
Our projects will naturally provide opportunities to improve building function and energy performance. Projects that improve the energy performance of a building range from window replacements, over-cladding or cladding replacements and air/vapour barrier repairs and improvements. Furthermore, the implementation of quality products, good workmanship, and thoughtful design will maximize the life cycle of a building component. Although these projects are typically not triggered by the need to meet an ESG standard, they do have a direct impact on the energy consumption and carbon footprint of a building asset.
2. Importance of Safety. Social “S”
All construction sites carry risk and injuries do happen from time to time. RX is committed to minimizing the amount of risk that workers are exposed to by developing, administering, and assessing their Health and Safety program. RX is registered in COR, utilizes electronic safety tracking systems, retains a third-party consulting firm and invests in high quality training for their tradespeople.
3. Females in our Managing Team. Governance “G”
In an industry dominated by men, RX is proud to showcase their female talent on their managing team. Our diversity of people, backgrounds, experience and skillsets is a key strength at RX.
